Studies of Celtic/Druid Paganism

I was asked this question on a different forum when I found out that I was not having a discussion with a person on the same path, but simply an outsider with a passing fancy. The below is my response to his question.

Again, why should it matter what path I'm on? Is the information/truth different then?

When the facts intertwine with the faith - yes, the "truth" is different. Those attempting to find peace through the "facts" of their faith do so in a different manner than those who are simply looking for "facts."

When I read the bible - I am doing so for the "fact" to justify the faith. I am reading about the Jews and Pilate and the history. I am not looking for the peace behind the words stated by Jesus - as I don't connect to them in the same way a Christian would. The same could be said if I was reading the Vedas or the Quran. I read them as a passing fancy - to understand their people, but I am not reading them to understand their "faith."

Books on Celtic history are just as much religious texts to a Celtic pagan as the above mentioned books are to the followers of their faith. Every bit of information is one step closer to our Gods. :)
